Meet Cory Hyatt Hines
Cory, the Artist
Welcome, I was raised in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA and graduated from The College of Charleston with a BA in Studio Art and a MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in Graphic Design. After silencing the painting part of my creative soul for 15 years, I realized I was denying a huge part of who she was. “Contemporary,” “geometric” and “abstract.” Those three words come closest to capturing my artistic style. You’ll find modern, geometric formulas in my work, where I explore key composition elements, bringing them forward through color and texture. My techniques draw from my training as a classical artist as well as my experience as a graphic designer.
My artwork is a culmination of my experiences and training as both a classical artist and a graphic designer. My work uses various geometric formulas to explore key compositional elements and bring them forward through my use of color and texture. I also use it as an opportunity to expand my abilities through constant experimentation. With influences ranging from Curtis Jeré, Paul Rand, and Renaissance masters I discover the beauty in the evolution of the object, place, and idea. The search for how to find myself is ever-evolving and takes a transcendent journey through color, pattern, and form.

The Modern South Collection is a series of graphic illustrations I have been creating since 2012. They stem from my career and studies as a graphic designer, and are inspired by mid century and geometric shapes.
My work is available online and at art houses and galleries in the southeast. You can find additional work and collections at:
