I am a contemporary coastal abstract artist working on paper and canvas using acrylic and mixed media. I live in Charleston, SC with my husband, daughter and two pups. My studio is inside my home and I love how it allows my daughter to see my work, process and creative goals unfold before her.

Days in the studio are precious to me. Having silenced this part of my creative soul for 15 years while focusing on a career in graphic design, I realized I was denying a huge part of who I was. Each day I spend doing something that fulfills such a huge part of my creative soul is a precious gift.

My artwork is a culmination of my experiences and training as both a classical artist and a graphic designer. My work uses various geometric formulas to explore key composition elements, and bring them forward through my use of color and texture. I also use it as an opportunity to expand my abilities through constant experimentation. With influences ranging from Curtis Jeré, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko and contemporary masters I discover the beauty in the evolution of the object, place and idea. The search of how to find myself is ever evolving and takes a transcendent journey through color, pattern and form.

I was born in Dallas, TX and grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia, PA.  I graduated from The College of Charleston with a BA in Studio Art and a MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in Graphic Design.

I began Modern South Studio as a small invitation and design business in 2012 after running a successful design boutique and working in the industry for over 10 years. When I began painting again it made sense to keep the name as my style still speaks to modern sensibilities and southern inspired subject matter.

I still work in both mediums and have experienced many recent accolades including making the USA Today 10 Best Makers of 2017 list. My work can be found in galleries and stores across the US. Much of my free time is spent with my family enjoying travel, culture and the arts. My passion for art and design bring to life unique and expressive creations.
